• #187 - April 8th, Doomsday, Red Heifers, and The End of the World

What is going on??? The last few weeks have been WILD. It seems there is so much happening in our world today. Wars, rumors of wars, threats of terrorism and violence, natural disasters, signs in the heavenlies... just to name a few. In the midst of all of the craziness, we (the people of God) need to make sure we are not allowing our hearts to be troubled. We cannot get consumed by fear, anxiety, confusion... because ultimately we are not called to anchor our hope in this world or the economy or the government... but in the One who is seated on the throne.

  • #184 - Death to Spectator Christianity: Alex Seidler

Alex Seidler is back! Duke and Alex spend time remiscining over leading worship in the early 2000's and transition into a discussion about the kindness of God, surrendering to Jesus and leading from a posture of servanthood. Alex points out that the world is in desperate need of the people of God expressing the heart of the Father in the way that we lead ministries and do life together. People are hungry for the authentic. For real community. Alex also points out that spectator Christianity is to go. As leaders we cannot be content with doing all the ministry for the people to see. We need to demonstrate in such a way that empowers others to discover the leadership potential within them and express the nature of the Kingdom in their lives. It's a different kind of leadership that leads FROM sacrifice not FOR affirmation.

  • #182 - Servant Leadership

Jesus demonstrated the most extreme level of servant leadership... He didn't come to be served but to serve and later His life down for the sake of the world. He demonstrated servant leadership and then called on His disciples to do the same. This kind of selflessness and humility is so needed in our world today. In fact, creation is desperately longing for the people of God to recognize their authority and to use that authority not to exalt themselves but to serve like Jesus. Jesus didn't teach us to condemn the world. He taught us to love so well that people will ask, "What must I do to be saved?"

  • #181 - Leaning Into God's Discipline (featuring Denisse Lamastra)

In this episode, Duke and Denisse Lamastra tackle issues like walking in forgiveness, responding to the Lord in obedience, and enduring correction. It isn't always easy or pleasant but every single time God requires something from us or calls us to a new level of faith, obedience, etc, it is because He wants us to grow and move into a greater level of freedom. There is something extremely freeing about inviting correction from the Lord... when we don't reject or fight against His discipline but actually lean into it.

  • #180 - He Gets Us

If you watched the SuperBowl this weekend you probably saw the commercial "He Gets Us". The ad sparked a ton of controversy. Many Christians are opposed to the idea of presenting Jesus in the light of someone who "Gets everyone" and would go out of His way to wash the feet of sinners and broken people. In this episode we'll consider the different viewpoints and examine the heart behind the campaign from a biblical perspective.

  • #178 - Intrusive Thoughts

Do you ever struggle with Intrusive thoughts? You know... those thoughts that seem to come from out of nowhere that you can't seem to get rid of? It happens to EVERYONE. The problem many people face is they don't recognize that just because those thoughts entered their mind does NOT mean those thoughts belong there! As a child of God, you have been given authority over every negative, Intrusive, destructive thought that comes into your mind. You don't have to put up with those Intrusive thoughts any longer!

In this episode we are delving into some scripture passages that map out our authority as believers over our thought life. The most important conversation you'll have today is the one between your own ears, and in this episode I'm sharing Biblically how to engage in self-talk (meditation) that empowers and brings life.

It was an interesting discussion that got me thinking about the Sanctity of Life, why we're all here, our relationship with the planet, and what it means to be created in the image of God.
