Secretly bisexual, pansexual, or queer?

Season 2 | Episode 4
7m | Jun 8, 2021

Sexual Infidelity is often considered the ultimate betrayal. It disrupts ongoing, meaningful relationships. When a heterosexual couple experiences infidelity and the offense is committed with someone of the same sex, it turns worlds upside down.

All relationships have rules. We expect that our partners will keep our interests in mind even when potential rewards tempt them to break the rules. Infidelity occurs in the context of both heterosexual and same-sex relationships, although expectations may be different.

It’s an unusual trend and difficult to get to the root of. Are guys secretly bisexual, pansexual, or queer? Are they gay and in the closet? Or are they just straight and wanted to try something… a little different?

Confession: I have been married more than 25 years and have kids. I'm also gay. I always have been, but when I was a teenager, it wasn't acceptable and I always believed I would just outgrow it, or learn to live with it. Then came the computer era and the internet -- things I never dreamed of while growing up. They changed my life, yet I'm still closeted. I have had two gay relationships. Both lasted less than a year. I feel like my whole life has been a lie, and I pretty much screwed up my wife because of it. I did provide her with all the creature comforts financially and gave her two beautiful kids.

I just don't know if it's worth coming out at this point in my life. I'm also reluctant because I don't have a guy in my life right now, although I am looking. It's just so difficult. I'm torn about how to live the remainder of my life. Please help.

Queerty is reporting that a recent national survey released by the CDC revealed that more Americans are identifying as bisexual than ever and more straight-identifying men are admitting to having tried gay sex.

Researchers interviewed more than 9,000 men and women ages 18 to 44 years of age. Of all the men interviewed, 6.2 percent of them said they had engaged in same-sex sexual activity at least once in their lifetime. And of that 6.2 percent, 2.3 percent identified as straight.

So, maybe the answer about straight-identifying men having gay sex is even more complicated than we originally thought.
