I remember thinking that when I had children, I wanted to give my kids the gift of prayer. Fast forward 25 years, my sons were 10 and 12 and our family was going on a 5-week trip to Africa for my husband to teach at Uganda Baptist Seminary. I was asked to teach the women about parenting. The Lord impressed on me to not be afraid, to read the new book I had brought on the trip, Every Child Needs a Praying Mom by Fern Nichols, and to use that book to teach the four steps of prayer to the Ugandan moms. When I got home, I realized I couldn’t go to Africa and do something I wasn’t willing to do in my own town, so I started a Moms in Prayer group.Whether our kids are in a private school, public school, or homeschool, we will be better parents when we are consistently praying with other women for our children.It is wonderful to have other women praying over my children. I can look back at the prayer sheets and see that God has been faithful. God continues to shape my sons into the men of God He wants them to be. Now I pray not only for our two sons, but also our two daughters-in-law, and our two grandsons. God is faithful, generation after generation.
