Don't Look in the Water
Don’t Look in the Water.
There’s something in there.
From the murky depths of Appalachia to the strange waterways just beyond its borders, we're diving into the legends, sightings and unexplained encounters that have kept people wondering what lurks beneath the surface.
Meet the Ogua, a monstrous creature of Appalachian river lore; the mysterious beast of Seneca Lake; Raystown Ray, Pennsylvania's resident lake monster; and Candy, the enormous fish said to haunt Connecticut's Candlewood Lake. We'll explore the Susquehanna River's mysterious underwater presence and its reported mermaid sightings, the strange history of the Tennessee River Monster, Kentucky's bizarre eel-pig known as Herry…and more.
Along the way, we'll encounter submerged communities, unsettling local legends, eyewitness accounts and a few theories that might make you think twice before your next swim. Could some sightings have ordinary explanations? Could others have been misidentified animals, stories that grew with time, or something we haven't quite figured out?
We'll examine the stories, follow the historical breadcrumbs and leave room for the questions to remain unanswered.
Stick around near the end for a collection of additional water cryptids and regional legends to fuel your own paranormal research. (Plus an Urgent Call To Action! St. Ignatius Hospital needs our help!!!)
The water is dark. The depths are vast. Don’t get in…the water is NOT fine 🐠
Don't look in the water.
