THE GOLDEN STATE KILLER
Season 10 | Episode 194
17m | Sep 3, 2026Episode 194 | Historical Events
In this History episode we focus on Joseph James DeAngelo — the Golden State Killer, a former police officer who committed 13 murders and approximately 50 rapes across California between 1974 and 1986, evaded capture for over 40 years by using his knowledge of how investigations worked, and was finally identified in 2018 when a genealogist built a family tree from partial DNA matches in a public genealogy database.
He couldn't hide from the DNA he left at the scenes. He just had to wait for the technology to catch up with him.
