The AP Poll might not like Nebraska (yet), but one metric does based on its first 4 games…do we buy into the ESPN Football SP+ rankings?

-Nebraska is placed firmly in the 30s right now in the AP and Coaches Polls after their 4-0 start, which is fair with the competition that

they’ve faced. However, the ESPN SP+ rankings (by Bill Connelly) have Nebraska at 16 th in the country---ahead of Iowa and UCLA

(!)—but behind Penn State

-The rankings are ‘a predictive measure of team efficiency that takes into account tempo and opponent-adjust metrics such as team’s

offense, defense and special teams ratings---and is ‘a measure of the most sustainable and predictable aspects of football’
