Long standing progressive metal act Gojira return with another display of meticulously crafted virtuosity that serves as the band's most accessible release yet. The band's call to action to fight for a better tomorrow stands on a bedrock of vigorous rhythm patterns and funky grooves that rouse and impress from beginning to end.

Ep. 16 Gojira - Fortitude

The guys are back at it with another guillotine round of album reviews. Let's face it, everyone only has so much time which makes keeping up with new releases impossible. In this retrospect of last month's releases, get up to speed on possible releases you may have missed, which ones to avoid, and others that are worthy of checking out.

Ep. 15 - Omnibus 2

After a two year break from an intense stretch of prolific output, mainstream darlings BROCKHAMPTON return in a deeply personal way. They walk the tightrope between rap and pop, seldomly overseasoning the medley with one style over the other, delivering the bangers and catchy production flourishes they have built their reputation on, but also weave a confessional narrative into the lyricism that hits as heavy as any beat.

Ep. 14 Brockhampton - Roadrunner: New Light, New Machine

Habitually standing on the edge, whether of a musical frontier or a nervous breakdown, synth oriented art rock project Xiu Xiu blend the cacophonous with the harmonious on this collection of duets. These collaborations are a labor of love. They emerged from musicians helping a fellow artist through a moment of crisis, injecting a softness and playfulness into the tone of some tracks which become easier entry points to the band's otherwise notoriously challenging music.

Ep. 13 OH NO - Xiu Xiu

This week Co-hosts Zach and Brandon discuss rising Australian musician Genesis Uwusu and his debut LP "Smiling With No Teeth". This debut effort is a tour through Uwusu's influences and is drenched with personality, eagerness to impress, and a refreshing commentary on depression and racism. Brandon also takes an aside to comment on Lil Mariko's debut self titled release, and he is sort of embarrassed about it.

Ep. 12 Smiling With No Teeth - Genesis Owusu

https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/pod-public-media-files/2021/3/22/19/7fc6b0bf-6fc2-4cf6-ba9b-23b8a3b0621b_mirrors_-_pupil_slicer.mp3

The creative brainchild of lead guitarist and vocalist Katie Davies, Pupil Slicer are a three piece metal outfit who combine some of heavy music's most intense subgenres on their debut release, Mirrors. At only 24 years old, Davies and crew capture a sound that plays like a futuristic shot out of hell.

Ep. 11 Mirrors - Pupil Slicer

Long time collaborators Nick Cave and Warren Ellis of The Bad Seeds fame surprisingly issue a new release without the band's moniker. They take the opportunity to meditate and eviscerate the trending tumult of the last year, assembling elements of sound from different eras of their career, yet unable to resist the temptation of returning to the familiarity of their most recent sound on later tracks.

Ep. 10 Carnage - Nick Cave and Warren Ellis

Returning to their origins on their seventh full length release, indie rockers Cloud Nothings churn out a hardcore emo record, consisting of tracks so similar in tone from a lack of new ideas that they are better to digest in a vaccum rather than altogether.

~Bonus~ The Bridge Omnibus.

https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/pod-public-media-files/2021/2/26/19/2c286146-282b-44db-a617-81807710919b_black_country_new_road.mp3

Breaking new ground in the intersecting post-punk math-rock space on their debut record, seven-piece UK newcomers Black Country, New Road blend the technical and the visceral in rhythimic yet dissonant ways, pushing past their predecssors while honoring the foundation they laid.

Ep. 8 For the first time - Black Country, New Road

https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/pod-public-media-files/2021/2/19/7/7f75ee11-2220-4736-98a5-b0c03e4804c9_ep_7_the_weather_station.mp3

A folk turned indie rock group from Toronto, The Weather Station evolve their sound further on this jazz inspired record. The lyricism embraces the wildness of the Canadian landscape, stoking and piercing anxieties about the anthropocene. Whether the riveting songwriting rises or sinks under the weight of the band's new musical ambitions is a matter of debate.

Ep. 7 Ignorance - The Weather Station

https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/pod-public-media-files/2021/2/12/15/a4a67d3d-6bf6-423f-8f60-504fa9de0d7f_ok_human.mp3

Cutting through our glitchy and shuttered technological age, mainstream rockers Weezer present a baroque pop album. The consistent catchy choruses and wholesome analog melodies may warm the chilling effect of technology on the human psyche, but how long does the antidote of Weezer's good intentions last?

Ep. 6 Weezer - OK Human

https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/pod-public-media-files/2021/2/7/7/22f13516-b7bb-46c2-aaf5-06bac07d2916_ep_5.celeste.mp3

The debut release from UK artist Celeste announces a captivating new voice that weaves together dance hits, soulful jazz numbers, and haunting lyricism, perfecting the musical tradition of former female jazz singers turned pop stars.

Ep. 5 Not your Muse - Celeste

https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/pod-public-media-files/2021/1/27/22/4670e46c-98dc-4f18-ac42-93adcebcb99f_ep._4_carm_-_self_titled.mp3

Prodigious instrumentalist and backing musician CARM arrives with his self-titled debut album. It is an evolutionary thrust into the electronic music genre that strikes with flashes of brilliance, though the trepidations of hosts Brandon and Zach also show cause for concern.

Ep. 4 Self Titled - CARM

https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/pod-public-media-files/2021/1/22/15/7d2c09ed-29d8-4c1a-9615-edbdc927c68c_ep_3_spare_ribs.mp3

Hailing from the English Midlands, the two man outfit Sleaford Mods continue their blend of electronic, punk, and rap, carving out a singular space in the saturated music landscape certain not to fall on deaf ears.

Ep. 3 Spare Ribs - Sleaford mods

https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/pod-public-media-files/2021/1/14/18/a9c68aa7-f03a-4f85-9919-8c5b6f7288ef_ep_2_welfarejazz.mp3

Carefully walking the thin line between parody and pastiche, this riotous sophomore release from Viagra Boys spin Brandon and Zach around in its whirlwind on the latest episode of The Bridge.

Ep. 2 Welfare Jazz - Viagra Boys

https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/pod-public-media-files/2021/1/12/23/51b4400e-dce9-4d59-a502-ce2ebf66b78a_ep._1_brass.mp3

On this episode of The Bridge, hosts Brandon and Zach grapple with the daunting duo of Philidelphia's Moor Mother and New York's Billy Woods, as the pair combine for an intellectually gruesome hip-hop album that takes a trip through the history of violence, among other topical social issues.

Ep. 1 Brass - Billy Woods/Moor Mother

Friends, Zach and Brandon, sit down and discuss new album releases in hopes to bridge fans to bands.
