Who Protects in Great Trial
Though God may suffer His people to fall into sin, He will not suffer His people to lie still in sin.
-Matthew Henry
The Passage:
Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.
Revelation 3:10-11 (ESV)
The List:
I’m going to state an obvious one, Jesus has commands for his church.
There are rewards for those that keep Jesus’ commands
Those obedient to his commands he will keep (or another word you could use is “protect” in the hour of trial
He is going to allow a time of trial to come on the whole earth
He allows trial to test inhabitants of the earth
He tests (to me this also means that he is involved and cares)
He is coming soon
He desires that we would hold on to what we have (or the righteous things)
He gives us crowns (as you will see in another translation you can use the term, “crown of victory”.
He will allow our crowns he gives to be taken
The Declarations:
You have commands for your church
There are rewards you have in store for us when we keep your commands
If we are obedient you will protect me from great trial that is ahead for the whole earth. You will preserve me.
You will allow times of trials, even for the whole earth.
You test us.
Jesus, you are coming soon
You desire for us to hold on and cling to the good things, the righteous things
You distribute crowns, you give us victory
You allow our crowns to be taken if we don’t cling to what is good and righteous.
