What happens when music meets mystery, history, and a few unexpected F-bombs? Musician and film composer Paul Lewis joins Michel and Sylvia for a lively behind-the-scenes look at the making of Behind the Black, their upcoming feature documentary. From jazz drums and emotional soundscapes to the art of scoring documentaries, Paul shares how music brings powerful stories to life. But the conversation goes far beyond the soundtrack. As the film nears completion, the trio explores the creative challenges of documentary filmmaking, unexpected historical discoveries, classified documents, and the mysteries surrounding a family’s extraordinary past. Add in a little Jon Stewart, a few creative meltdowns, and Sylvia's famously Swiss composure going out the window, and you've got an episode filled with music, mystery, humor, and a few surprises.

And because this is Stories, Controversy and Band-Aids, the conversation somehow moves from hidden histories to aging gracefully… and the eternal American-European battle over air conditioning.

Sylvia and Michel welcome “Tish” whose life has been intertwined with Sylvia’s since childhood. What begins as a reunion becomes a startling revelation: Tish’s grandmother once proposed that Robert Greif adopt her after her own mother’s death — before Sylvia herself was born. Together, the three women trace the echoes of destiny, adoption, and identity that link their families from Cap d’Antibes to Beverly Hills. Sylvia recalls being teased at her Swiss boarding school, embarrassed by her mother’s custom green Beetle, and reconnecting with a nanny who still had a childhood photo of her. The conversation bounces from Medy Roc to the realities of making a documentary—how stories shift in ways scripted films never can—and the skepticism they face when family history includes spies, secrets, and near-unbelievable twists. They also open up about persistence and doubt: when the universe throws obstacles in your way, is it a sign to stop—or a test to keep going?
