We are delighted to bring you this wonderful tale from Granada in Spain! Granada is a beuatiful city at the the foot of the Sierra Nevada. When we visited there, we found it very magical. You can find out more about Granada HERE.

We found a version of this folktale in the book Three Golden Oranges and other Spanish Folktales. It's a bit old fashioned about disability so we made some changes to be more sensitive. We hope you like our version.

Our story is all about the wise fool Nasruddin.

He’s a wonderful character whose tales are told all across the Islamic world – India, Pakistan, the middle east, turkey, Afghanistan, even parts of Greece, Albania, Macedonia, Russia, even China.

Mullah Nasruddin is sometimes called 'Hodja' – which means master, and his lessons are very interesting. He gets up to all sorts of funny antics, but we also learn that he can be unusually wise. Lots of people go to him to advice – from peasants to Emperors.

Hello Story lovers! We are so excited to bring you a two parter from the famous collection: Arabian Nights, also known as ‘The Thousand and One Nights!’

Do you remember the Fisherman and the Genie back in Season one? That’s from the Arabian nights. All the tales are told by the beautiful Sheherazade who tells a story every night for 1001 nights so that her husband, the King, will keep her alive - yikes!

Her stories are so entertaining, and she’s so very clever, she leaves them on a bit of a cliff hanger so the King just has to hear how the story ends the next night! And it saves her life.

We are leaving a bit of cliffhanger too! Part 1 this week and Part 2 next week!!

Our story is a very very old tale from the Australian Aboriginal people. They do not have a written down language, so their wisdom is passed down through word of mouth, symbols and beautiful art work. Aboriginal people of Australia believe that the Dreamtime was way back, in the very beginning of time. Everything was created by ancestor spirits. They made the rivers, streams, water holes hills, rocks, plants and animals.
