Episode # 4 | OWN Your Urge | Recognize What's Pulling At You

21m | Oct 6, 2026

What are you really bowing down to every day?

In Episode 4 of Own Yourself, we go back to one of the oldest stories of faith: Abraham and his father, Terah, a man who made his living selling idols in the marketplace. Abraham grew up surrounded by statues people prayed to and trusted. He eventually confronted his father with a simple question: why worship something that can't see, hear, or save you? Why give your devotion to something you made with your own hands?

We look at why this lesson matters more now than ever. Today's idols aren't carved from stone. They're in our pockets. Our phones, our feeds, the influencers we follow, and the screens we check before we even say good morning have become the things we look to for direction, validation, and comfort.

From there, we take on the daily urges that quietly run our lives: the urge to scroll, to overeat, to stay comfortable, to put things off, and to choose what feels good now over who we're trying to become. Owning yourself starts with recognizing what's pulling at you and deciding you're the one in control.
