Why You're Never Done Fixing Yourself (The One Thing Behind Every Problem)

Season 1 | Episode 10
27m | Aug 11, 2026

Why does the list of things to fix about yourself never run out? You sort out the overthinking, and a few months later you can't say no to anybody; you work on that, and now you're irritated at people who don't deserve it. If you've been putting in the effort and things only sort of work before the next issue turns up, this episode of Self Full is for you. Wilson Huang makes the case that there was never a list — underneath all of it is one system, the part of you that quietly builds a version of you for every room you walk into. You never sat down and designed a single one of them, and it's been doing that job since before you had the words for it.

You'll get three tools: Name the Character (pick one easy room, give that version of you a plain, slightly affectionate name — Work Me, Family Dinner Me — then ask what it's afraid would happen if it stopped), Follow the Tiredness (when you get home far more drained than the evening can explain, ask "which version was I running, and what was I editing?" instead of "what's wrong with me?"), and "Thanks, I've got this one" (five words you say silently the moment you catch yourself defending, which opens a gap just wide enough to take the next 30 seconds deliberately instead of automatically).

For anyone who's always working on themselves and never quite feels finished, or who comes back from a perfectly nice three-hour dinner unable to face the dishes. You are not broken, you're not too sensitive, and it's not a character flaw — that exhaustion is the bill for how hard a very loyal system has been working to keep you safe. New episodes every Tuesday.
