I Started Writing Songs About My Day Job
For years, I thought songwriting had to be about love or heartbreak. But recently, I've been challenging myself to write about the life I'm already living.
As a registered nurse, I've realized some of my best stories come from the hospital. That shift in perspective led me to write songs like "Calling in Sick" and "Short-Staffed," proving that inspiration can come from the most unexpected places.
In this solo episode, I share why I've been pushing myself to become a better observer instead of just a better songwriter—and how paying attention to everyday life has completely changed the way I write.
This episode also sets up my conversation with poet Christian Perfas, where we dive deeper into writing, expression, and the power of using your words.
