My Commitment Was Rooted in Grind Culture and Almost Cost My Peace

32m | Oct 5, 2026

I have a confession to make. A few days ago, my old survival brain started panicking about business metrics, and I frantically sat down to plan a massive, exhausting 90-day challenge. My plan was to force myself to show up on camera at 5:00 AM every single morning until the end of the year to feed the algorithm. That wasn't how I looked at it initially, but that's what it was.

Let's talk about the trap of the "unintentional scramble"—how fear tries to trick us into running back to the hustle when we make space to be still/slow down/do less, and why the most radical thing a Black woman in her midlife can do right now is refuse to be a mule for the system. Put your phone on do-not-disturb, grab your tea, and let's talk about how we are going to unlabor and choose peace for the rest of this year.
