The Outdoor Podcast from BowHunterPlanet sits down with Matt from REK Broadheads for a deep dive into broadhead design, hunting performance, American manufacturing and what's coming next from REK.

We break down the current **REK XP, HXP and FX4 broadhead lineup** and talk about one of the biggest debates in bowhunting:

**FIXED BLADE vs MECHANICAL BROADHEADS.**

Which one should you shoot?

The answer isn't always as simple as people make it sound.

We discuss broadhead flight, crossbow performance, cutting diameter, penetration, arrow setups, 100-grain vs. 125-grain heads and choosing a broadhead based on your particular hunting situation.

REK's XP is a mechanical with a cutting diameter just under 2 inches, while the larger HXP features a massive **2¼-inch cut**. The FX4 gives hunters a fixed-blade option.

REK also redesigned its mechanical broadheads with a simplified **clipless blade-retention system**. There are no springs, collars or bands, and the blades can be reset by hand.

We also get into how REK builds its broadheads.

The current lineup uses **7075 aluminum ferrules**, hardened stainless-steel chisel tips and heavy-duty blades. REK's goal has been to build a mechanical broadhead capable of standing up to bone and hard impacts while also being rebuildable instead of disposable.

And REK is doing it right here in Michigan.

Matt talks about REK's commitment to American manufacturing, with the heads machined in Northern Michigan and assembled in-house.

We also dive into the business side of the hunting industry:

• Growing REK Broadheads

• Selling through archery dealers

• Online vs. retail sales

• Seasonal broadhead production

• Inventory challenges

• Working with major retailers

• Protecting a premium hunting brand

• Growing an American-made company

And then Matt drops an interesting teaser.

**REK has a NEW broadhead being developed for 2027.**

They've already been testing the new model out West — and Matt says they've already taken two deer with it.

He can't reveal everything yet...

But something new is definitely coming.

And of course we couldn't have REK Broadheads on without talking about one of our favorite BowHunterPlanet traditions:

🎃 **PUMPKIN KILLING SEASON!**

Expect to see REK broadheads destroying some pumpkins very soon.
