Sol Dance, a diverse ecstatic dance community promoting freedom of expression and emotional release through dance and movement in judgement-free spaces throughout Atlanta, also features live organic rhythm during their regular second Sunday monthly dances. Before transitioning to the set of resident DJ, Scott Houston, a crew of percussionists join together at the center of the event space for a live rhythm performance. Afterwards, the crew drums in support of Scott Houston's set.

For this dance, Marco Molina led the community in vocal call and response.

As part of their Fireside Sessions series, the Decipher Dojo Men's Brotherhood in Atlanta, Georgia includes workshops from varying facilitators centered around different topics and themes every month in addition to group discussion segments. This was my first time joining in and this session with Kava Beats was a fun one. I played one of my favorite rhythm games with the group, layering multiple conversations over each other as I periodically shifted my focus collaborating with a different person every few minutes. The result was a pleasing journey in rhythm.

After serving and entertaining crowds at the Georgia Renaissance Festival, some workers and performers from the faire gather to decompress during a drum and flow jam. Several individuals I drum with in the core group of the Dragon Con Drum Circle also drum for this flow jam and invited me to support it along with them during the 2026 summer season.

Facilitated by Remo endorsed facilitator, Eric Olson, this is a circle encouraging all experience levels with no previous experience required. Even if this is your first time drumming, Eric will have you drumming with the group before the session's end. Instruments are provided and you're also welcome to bring your own. With half facilitated rhythm games and half free flow jam, this one is always a lot of fun and is an excellent place to start if you've never tried drumming in community circles before.

A music meetup and jam with a focus on drums and percussion, the Kava Beats Drum Circle in Rome, Georgia is a casual non-facilitated bring-your-own-instrument circle. Drums and percussion instruments, flutes and didgeridoos welcomed. This pocket of drummers gather to share their joy of creating improvised rhythms and encourage musicians of all experience levels to join the beat. This circle meets on the sidewalk, in front of or near the Traveling Gypsies & Kava Den, and a few instruments and chairs are available to share if you don't have your own.
