MONTEZ SWEAT SUSPENDED! 🚨🐻 Bears Lose Star Pass Rusher for 2 Games | What Happens NOW?!

🚨 BREAKING CHICAGO BEARS NEWS: Montez Sweat has reportedly been suspended for the next TWO games for violating the NFL’s Performance-Enhancing Substances Policy.

That means the Bears will be without one of the most important players on their defensive front for Sunday’s road matchup against the Atlanta Falcons and the following Thursday against the New England Patriots.

On this breaking-news edition of Chicago Bears Central, Haize breaks down what the Montez Sweat suspension means for a Bears defense already trying to recover from an ugly performance against Green Bay.

Sweat’s importance goes far beyond one player missing two games. He recorded 10 sacks in 2025 and has led Chicago in sacks for three straight seasons, while serving as the established veteran presence on the edge. Chicago Bears

Now the pressure shifts to the rest of Dennis Allen’s defensive line.

🔥 Austin Booker suddenly has an enormous opportunity. Booker is coming off an encouraging performance against Green Bay in which he recorded two sacks, three tackles for loss and two quarterback hits. Windy City Gridiron

And then there’s the question Bears fans are immediately going to ask:

👀 Does this make a Khalil Mack trade more urgent?

Chicago was already connected to conversations about adding another pass rusher before Sweat’s suspension. Now Ryan Poles has to decide whether this is simply a two-game problem that Chicago should weather internally or another reason to strengthen the defensive front before the trade deadline.
