Charisse Mills turned $2,900 meant for rent into a million-dollar business—but her story includes much more than entrepreneurship.

Later, she risked her $2,900 rent money on roughly 50 waist trainers, sold out in one week, reinvested the profits, and grew the operation from her apartment into a Harlem brownstone with employees and thousands of orders.

Charisse also gets vulnerable about losing everything, living in her best friend’s basement for two years, rebuilding through faith, motherhood, and entrepreneurship, and learning when it is time to pivot.
