Ep.166 Philippians 4:6-7 How to Experience the Peace that Surpasses Understanding

34m | Sep 27, 2026

Have you ever had one worry turn into ten?

One concern becomes a rabbit hole of “what ifs,” and before you know it, your mind is running through every possible scenario trying to figure out how to make everything okay.

But what if the peace we're looking for doesn't come from finally having all the answers?

In this episode of Mom Keys to Mental Peace, we're diving into Philippians 4:6–7 and what it means to experience the peace of God that surpasses understanding. We'll talk about the ways we try to create our own peace through control, busyness, and distraction—and how God's peace is different.

God's peace doesn't necessarily mean the problem disappears. Sometimes the problem is still there, the answer hasn't come yet, and the circumstances haven't changed. Yet somehow, you can still have peace.

I'll also share a personal story of having to practice Philippians 4:6–7 during one of the most difficult seasons of my life and what it looked like to pour my worries out to God instead of allowing them to spiral in my mind.

Because peace isn't the absence of problems. Peace is the presence of God in the middle of them.

If your mind has been overwhelmed by worry, this episode is your reminder that you don't have to carry it all. Bring it to God, thank Him for what He's already done, and trust Him with what you cannot control.

Ready to choose peace? Let's do it!

Homework:

Your homework this week: Practice Philippians 4:6–7.

When a worry begins to spiral, stop and take it to God.

Write down:

  1. What am I worried about?
  2. What do I need from God right now?
  3. What can I thank God for?
  4. What am I trying to control that I need to surrender?

Then spend a few moments reminding yourself:

“I don't know what is going to happen, but I know God is with me.”

Notice what happens when you stop trying to create your own peace and allow God to guard your heart and mind.

Prayer of Salvation

If you’re ready to invite Jesus into your heart and begin a new life in Him, please pray this prayer with me:

"Dear God, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I admit that I am a sinner and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son, and that He died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for loving me and giving me eternal life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen."
