Int J Qual Stud Health Well-being . 2026 Dec Exploring emotional intelligence through emotional journaling

21m | Aug 14, 2026

This qualitative study investigates how young students in crisis-stricken Lebanon navigate their inner lives through the practice of emotional journaling. By applying a framework of five emotional competences, researchers analyzed the personal diaries of teenagers to determine how they identify and manage their feelings amidst chronic social and political instability. The findings reveal a significant gap in psychological maturity: while these youth are highly adept at recognizing their emotions and specific triggers, they frequently lack the necessary tools for adaptive regulation, often resorting to harmful coping mechanisms. Ultimately, the text illustrates the profound impact of environmental precarity on the emotional intelligence of vulnerable populations, emphasizing the urgent need for structured support in developing healthy resilience.
