#33 AUTHOR: Am I Good Enough to Publish? An Honest Talk About Imposter Syndrome

Should I really be publishing these books—or will everyone simply notice what I’ve done wrong?

In this very honest episode, I’m talking about imposter syndrome while I’m still right in the middle of it.

As a self-published author with ADHD and dyslexia, writing and releasing books has brought up a lifetime of insecurities around words, mistakes and being corrected. When I add the pressure of editing, illustrations, formatting, marketing and comparing myself with successful authors online, it becomes very easy to wonder whether I belong here at all.

I’m sharing the difference between questioning my work because I genuinely know I can improve it and doubting whether I should be creating it in the first place. I also explain how feedback, planning and continuing to take small steps have helped me move forward when my confidence disappears.

This isn’t a perfect formula for defeating imposter syndrome. It’s a real conversation from an uncertain point in my self-publishing journey—and a reminder that nobody else has your exact brain, imagination or story to tell.
