Then, sometime before sunrise, Johnny disappeared.
More than forty years later, nobody knows exactly what happened to him. Today, we’re taking a closer look at the disappearance of Johnny Gosch — one of the most well-known missing child cases in American history.

The Mysterious Disappearance of Maura Murray

On the morning of January 24th, 2006, 24-year-old Jennifer Kesse was supposed to be at work.
Jennifer was known as reliable, responsible, and close with her family. So when she didn’t show up to the office that morning, and no one could reach her, the people in her life immediately knew something was wrong.
Her parents drove two hours to her Orlando condo that same day.
Inside, everything looked normal. It appeared Jennifer had gotten up, showered, and prepared for work just like she always did. But Jennifer was gone.
Two days later, police found her car abandoned at another apartment complex about a mile away.
Security cameras captured a single chilling clue: someone parking Jennifer’s car and calmly walking away.
But in a bizarre twist, every time the person passed the camera, their face was hidden behind a fence post.
Nearly two decades later, that unidentified figure remains one of the only known clues in her disappearance.

On the morning of January 24th, 2006, 24-year-old Jennifer Kesse was supposed to be at work.

Jennifer was known as reliable, responsible, and close with her family. So when she didn’t show up to the office that morning, and no one could reach her, the people in her life immediately knew something was wrong.

Her parents drove two hours to her Orlando condo that same day.

Inside, everything looked normal. It appeared Jennifer had gotten up, showered, and prepared for work just like she always did. But Jennifer was gone.

Two days later, police found her car abandoned at another apartment complex about a mile away.

Security cameras captured a single chilling clue: someone parking Jennifer’s car and calmly walking away.

But in a bizarre twist, every time the person passed the camera, their face was hidden behind a fence post.

Nearly two decades later, that unidentified figure remains one of the only known clues in her disappearance.

In March of 2000, a 23-year-old college student named Leah Roberts packed her belongings into her Jeep and left North Carolina behind.
She had no set destination. No clear plan. Just a map, a sense of adventure, and a deep fascination with the writings of Jack Kerouac.
But two weeks later, Leah’s Jeep was discovered at the bottom of a remote embankment in the Cascade Mountains of Washington State.
The vehicle had clearly been crashed. The windshield was shattered. Personal belongings were scattered around the scene. And Leah Roberts was nowhere to be found.
Investigators would soon discover strange clues surrounding the crash—details that raised more questions than answers. Was it an accident? Did Leah wander off into the wilderness? Or did someone else find her first?

A young woman goes dancing with friends. She laughs, drinks, maybe stays out a little too late. And then… she disappears.
But what happened next in this case would shock an entire city.
In June of 1996, a man searching through a dumpster in Boston made a horrifying discovery: inside a trash bag was the upper half of a woman’s body. Her killer had strangled her, cut her in half, and discarded her like garbage. The rest of her body was never found.
That victim was 20-year-old Karina Holmer, a young woman from Sweden who had come to the United States only months earlier to work as an au pair and experience life in a new country.
She had dreams of travel, independence, and adventure.
Instead, her story ended in one of Boston’s most brutal and baffling unsolved murders.
Karina was last seen in the early morning hours of June 22nd, 1996, leaving a nightclub in downtown Boston after a night out with friends. What happened after that moment remains a mystery.
Nearly three decades later, investigators still don’t know who killed her.

But they never made it.
Danielle and Richard vanished that night without a trace. And somehow, the pickup truck they were driving disappeared too.
Despite the fact that they were last seen leaving one of the busiest nightlife areas in the city, no witnesses have ever come forward to explain what happened next. No confirmed sightings. No physical evidence. No answers.
For investigators, the case quickly became one of the most baffling disappearances in the region.
Because it’s not just two people who vanished.

In November 2011, 33-year-old Florida mother Michelle Parker appeared on The People’s Court alongside her ex-fiancé to settle a personal dispute. The episode aired nationwide on the afternoon of November 17th. Just hours later, Michelle vanished.
Her car was found abandoned the next day. Her cellphone was later recovered from a nearby lake. But Michelle herself has never been found.
