On This Episode:
Do you remember when you could just head outside in July and not even think of any worries? You’d jump off a dock into freezing lake water, play basketball on scorching asphalt for hours, and wake up the next day feeling completely fine. No stretching, no soreness, nothing. Back then, summer was just pure energy, and your body didn’t complain about a single thing. But now, it feels like you have to negotiate with your own body just to enjoy a nice day. You spend a couple of hours working in the yard and you’re literally sore for the next two days. You go to the beach and you’re just constantly shifting around trying to find a position that doesn’t hurt your lower back, and instead of enjoying the heat, you’re just sweating and worrying about getting a headache. You see kids sprinting past you on the boardwalk, totally taking for granted how effortless it is for them, while you have to stop for a second because your knee is acting up again. It all goes along with the passage of time that the summer hasn't changed at all, but you have in terms of your own aging biology. At that time of your aged life, you’re jus trying to figure out how to take things slow in a season that you used to spend running around at full speed.
