• JAWGUST 2: “JAWSTEMBER 1, 2026” (1 of 1)

Just when you thought it was safe to go listen to another podcast...JAWGUST 2 may be officially done - but I am here with one more bonus episode ready to talk about JAWS 2 - just not the movie! I talk about various JAWS 2 related merchandise, some of which came out to coincide with the movie - others of which came out years later.

I also discuss the passing of the great Murray Hamilton - 40 years ago today.

    JAWGUST WILL RETURN!!!!

Check out all the links I mentioned in the show!

    39m - Sep 2, 2026
  • JAWGUST 2: “Open Wide! Say Ah!!” (31 of 31)

All good things come to an end. And also so do month long podcasts about JAWS 2. Here we are on the final day of JAWGUST 2 and all I can say is - thank you to everyone who reached out, who sent comments, to Eric and Chris for joining the show - and to everyone who listened!!

Of course I go through the final moments of JAWS 2, including all the end credits. I also take one last look back at the entire story of JAWS 2, in the only way I know how.

Plus, I found out that perhaps today, the final day of JAWGUST 2, there might have been a shark attack in Martha's Vineyard? The JAWGUST Gods are cruel sometimes!

Thank you again everyone - JAWGUST 2 has been fun as well. So let's do it again next year, shall we? Let's bring JAWGUST...Into the THIRD DIMENSION!

    47m - Sep 1, 2026
  • JAWGUST 2: “Oh, My God, No! No!!!” (30 of 31)

Happy Sunday, Sharkys! Today is the 2nd last day of JAWGUST 2 and I was ready to see our hero shark finally get a taste of this wicked, villainous teens! And it would have if that disgraced former police chief - the one who showed up in the stolen police boat - hadn't distracted the shark by playing a wicked beat on a giant cable.

Everybody knows sharks have no way of fighting off the power of dance when a good beat is playing. And Martin Brody is the best in the biz.

So while I was ready to see at least one more teenage appetizer, I did find out that one of the kids was supposed to die, but it was a little too graphic so they decided to scrap it. Probably a good idea to avoid that R rating - but terrible for a podcast 48 years later.

And what's worse is there is no footage out there that I know of!

One more day, everybody! ONE. MORE. DAY!

    40m - Aug 31, 2026
  • JAWGUST 2: “It's That Thing! I Know It! It's Gonna Kill Us!” (29 of 31)

Happy Saturday fellow people who thought it was safe to go back into the water! Today on JAWGUST 2, we do get a shark - but still not a lot happens. This is not a last minute opinion of mine as I show proof that I have been thinking this about these 220 seconds of JAWS 2 since very early this morning.

    30m - Aug 30, 2026
  • JAWGUST 2: “God, Please Help Us” (28 of 31)

Happy Friday non-shark fans! Today on JAWGUST 2, we get another episode without any shark! I did however talk about an article from the Daily Jaws, as well as mention actor video messages you can purchase for charity.

Plus, the intro was taken from this Joe Bob Briggs video that I promised I’d share and here is the cast photo I mentioned from VanZandtMilmore.com. I included shots from the movie for reference.

(L to R: G. Thomas Dunlop (Timmy), Martha Swatek (Marge), Cindy Grover (Lucy), Ben Marley (Patrick), Gigi Vorgan (Brooke), Donna Wilkes (Jackie), Joe Alves (Associate Producer, Production Designer, Second Unit Director), Ann Dusenberry (Tina), and Billy Van Zandt (Bob).

    32m - Aug 29, 2026
  • JAWGUST 2: “Sean, Try and Catch The Rope!” (27 of 31)

Happy Thursday boat fans! Today on JAWGUST 2, we get what might be the most boring 3 minutes and 40 seconds of this movie - or at least of the big conclusion. And to make matters worse - my long time friend, JAWS super fan and fellow podcaster Chris joins the show for the fourteenth time! I have a special guest joining me and THIS is the segment we get to talk about?

I almost want to issue him a refund for the guest-appearance fee he paid me. Almost.

The good news is Chris IS a super fan of JAWS and most definitely not a super fan of JAWS 2. And with guests, we talk about anything that has to do with the movie, not just this boring 220 seconds of film.

And, check out the episode of The Rewatchables that we talk about as well. Let's see if they have the guts to link back to THIS show!

    37m - Aug 28, 2026
  • JAWGUST 2: “Now, Hold On To Something!” (26 of 31)

Oh what a happy day it is, JAWS fans! I mean sure, JAWGUST 2 can celebrate the fact that the shark comes through big with not one, but two attacks tonight! Two pretty great ones too. But one - oh one could have been so much better.

And maybe - maybe it's just not as ridiculous as it appears? Here is that paper by Dr. Arthur A. Myrberg Jr. that I discussed.

But, seriously - who's idea was it to delete this scene?

    44m - Aug 27, 2026
  • JAWGUST 2: “I Have a Positive Location On That Sailing Party!” (25 of 31)

Ahoy, you whirlybirds! Today in JAWGUST 2 it looks like our local teens are about to be rescued. Phew! I thought I was going to need rescuing myself today as my usual computer is giving me issues forcing me jump on my wife's old PC and - hope for the best! This episode was edited and put together a little differently tonight but hopefully it sounds close enough!

Besides the 3 minutes and 40 seconds, I also talk little bit about HBO and I also ponder, what if Roy Schneider didn't have any artistic integrity - and wanted to play Brody...Forever!

    25m - Aug 26, 2026
  • JAWGUST 2: “Somebody Look Out For Mike!” (24 of 31)

Happy Monday Jawsamaniacs! Today is back to just ol' Mikey for JAWGUST 2. Today I discuss a shot that should have been considered classic, and back in 1978 probably was beloved, but in today's world of high definition is probably seen now as more infamous!

I also talk about another JAWS-related news story, this time out of San Antonio.

ONE WEEK TO GO AFTER TONIGHT!

    35m - Aug 25, 2026
  • JAWGUST 2: “This Will Be Our Finest Hour!” (23 of 31)

Happy Sunday, aquatic film enthusiasts! Today is a big day for JAWGUST 2 as it welcomes back the guest who has been on the show more than any other Geek Mentality guest, my long time pal and recent fellow concert-goer, Eric! Today we get a little Brody, some historic quotes, one giant shark, and a lot of screams!

We talk about Keith Gordon a little bit and mention that he is highlighted on the JAWS 2 DVD. You can watch that entire special feature thanks to the Daily Jaws on Youtube.

I also mention how there's a single frame in this segment that I thought might have been the inspiration of another, lesser known JAWS 2 poster.

It's not exact, but you can definitely see the similarities.

    47m - Aug 24, 2026
  • JAWGUST 2: “Chief, You're Not Chief Anymore!” (22 of 31)

Happy Saturday, Sharkys! While yesterday was pretty exciting, today's JAWGUST 2 episode feels like it is the calm before the shark really hits the fan. I recorded today's episode early and outside - but you'll have to listen to know just why!

I also talk about an unfortunate news story where a JAWS themed souvenir shop in Panama City, Florida burned to the ground.

    26m - Aug 22, 2026
  • JAWGUST 2: “Swim Fast, There's a Shark, Eddie!” (21 of 31)

FINALLY! It wasn't any propeller, it wasn't any coral reef, and it wasn't Jack the Ripper! IT WAS A SHARK! I feel like it's been forever in JAWGUST 2 since we got some good (dare I say great?) shark action! Great for us...not so great for poor Eddie.

Also, I touch once again on the brilliance of John Williams.

    26m - Aug 22, 2026
  • JAWGUST 2: “What About Sailing?” (20 of 31)

Sir Christopher Cross said it best when he said "Sailing, Takes me away," because on today's episode of JAWGUST 2 it seems sailing is going to end up taking Tina's boyfriend away...For good!

Plus we get to see Chief Brody kick some empties around his yard - neighbors must love him...

    27m - Aug 21, 2026
  • JAWGUST 2: “Get Us In, For Christ Sake! Get Us In!” (19 of 31)

Happy Wednesday, you holy divers! Today's episode of JAWGUST 2 covered a segment of the movie that was 95% dialogue free - but finally had some shark action in it, even though it was only for a few seconds and could have been - should have been - much more exciting.

But again, at least that shark is finally here.

    24m - Aug 20, 2026
  • JAWGUST 2: “Is There Enough Room for All of Us on the Boat?” (18 of 31)

It's Tuesday my fellow sailers, and today in JAWGUST 2, the Amity teens finally set sail for a day of fun and blood! But before I talk about the next (not so) action packed three minutes and forty seconds of JAWS 2, I also take a moment to appreciate the man, the myth, the legend - the great John Williams.

    31m - Aug 19, 2026
  • JAWGUST 2: “Four Years Down the Drain...” (17 of 31)

Happy Monday fellow Brody supporters! Today for JAWGUST 2, I felt like I found gold. Maybe what I found is already well known (it is mentioned on IMDB) but for me, it felt like I struck oil because I never heard, read or saw any mention of this before noticing it myself.

And at the very least - I knew I had something to talk about, because this segment of JAWS 2 was...fairly quiet.

    28m - Aug 18, 2026
  • JAWGUST 2: “They Only Fired Me, They Didn't Bury Me” (16 of 31)

Happy Sunday Amity Islanders and welcome back to JAWGUST 2. Wait sorry, if you weren't born there you'll never be an islander - and you know what? That might be a good thing, because a lot of these Amity lifers aren't worth the hand they raise to fire good, hard-working, ruggedly handsome police officers.

Today, we start to get an idea of how Mike Brody and his fellow teen...chums (pause for applause) might figure into the rest of the movie. And we learn that Len Peterson thinks it's a good idea to put the safety of people of Amity into the hands of a fellow Len (Hendricks).

Plus I talk about a video game that is seen during a bar scene - and yes, I did edit the Wikipedia page to include that it was featured in JAWS 2.

And I discuss this deleted scene, posted on YouTube thanks to the Daily Jaws.

    37m - Aug 17, 2026
  • JAWGUST 2: “I Don't Intend To Go Through That Hell Again!” (15 of 31)

Happy Saturday, bad hat wearers! Today in JAWGUST 2, Brody finally brings what he thinks if photographic proof that Amity is screwed again. Unfortunately for him, it's the people he brings it to that are really dicking around with the town!

Today's JAWGUST also features Geek Mentality's very first sponsor, so I am very psyched about that!*

*please note that the sponsor of this episode did not in any way sway any opinions about any topic nor did they require any approval of anything this podcast or its host discussed. Geek Mentality retains all editorial decisions.

    31m - Aug 16, 2026
  • JAWGUST 2: “Martin C. Brody - Amity Man of the Year, 1975” (14 of 31)

Happy Friday, fellow degenerate gamblers! After an evening in Connecticut at Foxwoods, I'm back talking more JAWGUST 2 today! Today's segment featured two moments where I think I improved how they could have been utilized in the script, and one moment that enraged me (or at least annoyed me).

Brody might be feeling pretty low right now - but at least he still has Sean's support. And that beatutiful award.

    35m - Aug 15, 2026
  • JAWGUST 2: “It's Just Bluefish!” (13 of 31)

Aw Jeez! The Chief's really gone and stepped in it this time, hasn't he!? Today in JAWGUST 2 is not a good day for the Brody family. Martin goes and opens fire on a crowded beach with his illegal poison bullets. Ellen has to deal with the aftermath of embarrassment both at her job and on a personal level.

And Michael has to do a terrible job painting a cabana while basically being cuckolded by a sailing by Larry Vaughn Jr.

We also finally see the little girl who was actually the real life sister of the boy who played Sean Brody.

(And I didn't realize until after the fact that I already used the intro audio two days ago. Oops.)
