• #9 - Inflation, Chinese Economic Crisis, Semiconductors, & Accountability in Ukraine

Glen returns in our first episode recording remotely.

We discuss the so-called Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 and it's implications domestically while we cover China's brewing real estate and banking crisis.

We then briefly touch on TSMC, the Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturer at the center of escalating tensions between the US and China, and why there are sure to be consequences from the lack of oversight and accountability with the funds and weapons being sent to Ukraine.

  • #8 - The Real Reasons Why Healthcare in the US Costs So Much

Once again I sat down with Dr. Rivera to continue our discussion on some of the more broken elements of the American healthcare system.

In this episode we focus mainly on some of the areas where failed attempts at regulation and poor incentive structures have driven the cost of healthcare and pharmaceuticals to levels that far exceed inflation.

We were still only able to scratch the surface on some of these issues, but shared some methods a savvy person can use to navigate this flawed system and come out ahead.

  • #7 - Problems in Healthcare Policy with Dr. Jarryd Rivera

I sat down with Dr. Rivera (MD) to scratch the surface on some of the problems with the US healthcare system, from both a provider perspective as well as on the policy side.

The Affordable Care Act was a massive piece of legislation, that few (if any) read in it's entirety. The legislation changed the healthcare landscape drastically over the last 12 years, though most ordinary people don't understand much of the impact due to the complexity of the healthcare industry today.

We will continue this discussion with Dr. Rivera and other physicians in the future and cover some more on Medicare/Medicaid as the debate to expand these programs continues within our nation.

For our last episode in studio together we had a more laid-back conversation after discussing the hiring freezes in tech.

We spend the later portion of the episode talking a bit about cultural exports and aesthetic movements.

    We're back!

  • #4 - Global Supply Impact of War & Breaking Down Fed Policy

We had a great conversation discussing the global impacts of food and energy supply shocks. Later on we break down the functions of US monetary policy and touch on how the Fed rate hikes affect you.

I made some adjustments to our audio settings and did not properly check afterwards so apologies in advance for the occasional peaking.

As always thank you for listening. We appreciate any feedback you have for us on our show.

    S1E2 - 1h 44m - Mar 8, 2022
  • #1 - Russia Invades Ukraine: How We Got Here

We faced some technical difficulties in this first recording and lost our mic audio files so please excuse the terrible audio quality as we were forced to pull it from our camera (which was not set up with a mic)

We'll have this resolved in our next episode, but this conversation was too good not to share.

We provide some broader context on why Russia felt emboldened to launch a full-scale invasion on Ukraine and some of the foreign policy failures and economic factors that lead to this.
