What Is the Gift of Tongues? | Acts 2:1-21

What is the gift of tongues, and what is it not?

In this message from Acts 2:1-21, we look at the day of Pentecost and the first occurrence of the gift of tongues after the Holy Spirit was poured out on the church. There is a lot of confusion, controversy, and even division surrounding this gift, but instead of building our theology from experience, tradition, or emotion, we look to Scripture.

Using Acts 2 as the foundation and 1 Corinthians 12-14 as support, this sermon explains that tongues is a real gift of the Holy Spirit, but it is not the only gift, not the evidence of salvation, and not meant to draw attention to ourselves. The purpose of every spiritual gift is to glorify Jesus, build up the church, and point people to the Gospel.
