In this message, Pastor Nick explores the difference between doing good works to earn salvation and doing good works because we've already been saved. We'll also discover why adding requirements to the gospel creates unnecessary burdens and why we should never make it harder for people to come to Jesus. You don't have to clean yourself up before coming to God. You don't have to earn His forgiveness. Jesus has already paid the price. It is finished. Jesus is enough.Scripture: Acts 15:1–35

In Acts 14, Paul and Barnabas face rejection, opposition, persecution, and even an attempt on Paul’s life. Yet instead of quitting, they keep going. Paul gets back up, continues preaching Jesus, and even returns to encourage the believers in the very city where he was nearly killed. In this message, we look at how God uses trials to build endurance, strengthen our faith, develop our character, and prepare us for what comes next.Hard seasons are not always a sign that you’re outside of God’s will. Sometimes the resistance is part of the training.Don’t run from the trial. Don’t give up. Draw near to God and allow Him to strengthen you through it.Scripture: Acts 14

Ministry can be exhausting. You may pour into others and see little visible growth. Sometimes the very thing God called you to do becomes the thing you’re tempted to walk away from.In Acts 13, John Mark leaves the missionary journey—but Paul and Barnabas keep going. Some people receive the gospel. Others reject it. Opposition increases. Yet through it all, the mission continues. In this message, we look at how to stay faithful when serving gets difficult, why visible results aren’t the measure of obedience, and why you shouldn’t let difficult people, discouragement, or slow progress make you give up on what God has called you to do.God’s mission will continue. The invitation is to stay faithful and be part of what He is doing.Scripture: Acts 13:13–52

Why do we make obedience to God so complicated? In Acts 13, Saul and Barnabas hear from the Holy Spirit—and they go. They don’t have every detail figured out. They don’t know exactly what will happen next. They simply trust God and obey the step He has given them.In this message, we look at how easy it is to overthink obedience, why you don’t need to know the whole plan before taking the next step, and how God can use simple acts of faithfulness to open doors you never expected.Sometimes obedience looks like sharing Jesus. Sometimes it looks like forgiving, praying, serving, loving your family well, or finally doing the thing God has already put on your heart. You don’t need all the answers. You just need to obey what God has already shown you.Scripture: Acts 13:4–12Need prayer or want to connect? In Acts 13, the church at Antioch wasn’t developing a strategy or trying to create the next big ministry. They were simply worshiping, praying, fasting, and ministering to the Lord. And in the middle of that surrender, the Holy Spirit gave them their next step.In this message, we look at what ministry really means, why every believer is called to be a minister, and why our first ministry is always to the Lord. Ministry isn’t about a platform, a title, or recognition. It’s about serving God, serving others, and living under the authority of Jesus. Before the mission comes ministry. Before the calling comes surrender.Scripture: Acts 13:1–3Need prayer or want to connect? Have you ever looked at someone else's life and asked, "God, why them and not me?" Or felt blessed and wondered, "Why me?"In this message from our series in the book of Acts, Pastor Nick Wyss teaches through Acts 12. James and Peter were both apostles, and both were close to Jesus, but their stories ended very differently. James was killed by King Herod, and Peter was freed from prison by an angel. Looking at John 21, where Peter asks Jesus, "What about this man?", we hear Jesus's answer to our own comparisons: "What is that to you? You follow me."In this message:• Comparison is the thief of joy, and God's plan for you is not measured against anyone else's• Faithfulness doesn't guarantee smooth sailing. Sometimes God delivers us from hardship, sometimes He carries us through it, and sometimes He takes us home• Peter's rescue doesn't mean James lacked faith. The same God was at work in both stories• Vengeance belongs to the Lord (Romans 12:19). We follow Jesus and leave the results to Him• Persecution can't stop the church: "But the word of God increased and multiplied" (Acts 12:24)Scripture: Acts 12:1–24 · John 21:18–22 · Romans 12:19 · Philippians 4Join us in person! Don’t give up on God. Get up and take another lap.As Fervent Church celebrates six years, Pastor Nick teaches from Joshua 6 and the story of Israel at Jericho. For six days they walked in obedience without seeing the walls move—but God wasn’t finished yet.Maybe you’ve been praying, trusting, serving, or believing and you still haven’t seen the breakthrough. Maybe you’ve grown tired and stopped walking altogether. Or maybe you’ve never taken that first step of following Jesus.Wherever you are today, the encouragement is the same: don’t stop on six.God is faithful. Keep trusting Him. Keep walking in obedience. And when you feel like sitting on the sidelines, get your shoes back on and take another lap.As Fervent enters Year 7, we’re thankful for everything God has done—and believing there is still more ahead. We’re going to keep following Jesus, keep moving forward, and do it together.Don’t stop on six. Don’t give up on God. Take another lap.Scripture: Joshua 1–6

Before Fervent Church ever held a Sunday service, before we moved to Texas, and before we knew what the next six years would hold, we gathered with family and friends in Tucson for one final night together. This message was recorded at our Fervent Farewell in February 2020 as we shared the vision God had placed on our hearts to plant a church so that people may know Jesus.Listening back six years later is pretty incredible. We talked about faith when you can’t see what’s on the other side. We talked about taking another lap when nothing seems to be happening. We talked about not giving up, trusting God with what comes next, and even announced our planned launch date: September 20, 2020.Six years later, as Fervent Church prepares to celebrate our anniversary on September 20, we’re opening the archives and sharing the message that helped send us out.We had no idea what the next six years would look like.God did.And He’s been faithful every step of the way.

What if where you are right now isn’t an accident? In Acts 11:19–30, persecution scattered the early believers far from home—but what looked like disruption became an opportunity for the gospel to spread. As ordinary believers faithfully shared Jesus, the church in Antioch was born. They planted and watered, but God brought the growth. In this message, Pastor Sam challenges us to recognize the ministry God has already placed in front of us. Whether it’s your workplace, neighborhood, family, school, or community, you have opportunities to point people to Jesus. Our responsibility isn’t to control the results. It’s to be faithful with what God has entrusted to us.You may be planting a seed. You may be watering one someone else planted. Either way, God is the One who makes it grow.Acts 11:19–30 | Fervent Church

Could your preferences, traditions, or comfort actually be getting in the way of what God wants to do?In Acts 11, Peter is criticized for taking the gospel to the Gentiles—but his response is simple: if God gave them the same gift, “who was I that I could stand in God’s way?”In this message, we look at what happens when God challenges our assumptions, calls us outside our comfort zones, and asks us to reach people we may have already written off. Jesus is for everyone. Our job is to go, love people well, share the gospel, and let God produce the fruit.📖 Scripture: Acts 11:1–18#Acts11 #Sermon #BibleTeaching #Jesus #Gospel #ChristianSermon #FerventChurch

Who have you decided is too far gone for Jesus? In Acts 10, God challenges Peter’s assumptions and breaks down the barriers between Jews and Gentiles. Through the story of Peter and Cornelius, we see a powerful truth: the gospel isn't reserved for people who look, think, or live like us. Jesus came for everyone—even them.In this message, discover what Acts 10 teaches about reaching the unlikely, overcoming religious pride, sharing the gospel, and being available for God to use you.Scripture: Acts 10Need prayer or want to connect? Are you waiting until you feel “ready” before letting God use you? In Acts 9:32–43, Peter shows us that God isn't looking for perfect people with all the right abilities, He’s looking for people who are available.Through the healing of Aeneas and the raising of Tabitha, we see what can happen when ordinary believers step out in obedience, depend on Jesus, and say, “Here I am, Lord.”📖 Scripture: Acts 9:32–43

God can call you in a moment—but becoming who He has called you to be takes time.In Acts 9:19–31, Saul has surrendered his life to Jesus and immediately begins telling others about Him. But the Apostle Paul we know today wasn't formed overnight. His journey included years of growth, testing, rejection, opposition, faithfulness, and obedience. In this message, Pastor Nick looks at Saul's early walk with Jesus and reminds us that God may be doing more in you right now than through you.Maybe you're wondering why you're not further along. Maybe you feel like God has called you to something, but nothing seems to be happening. Or maybe you think you need to know more, grow more, or have everything together before God can use you.You don't.God can use what you know today while continuing to shape who you're becoming tomorrow. The trials, waiting, hidden seasons, small acts of obedience, and everyday faithfulness aren't wasted. God is building something in you.📖 Scripture: Acts 9:19–31If this message encouraged or challenged you, share it with someone who needs to hear it and subscribe for more biblical teaching each week.

What are you still holding back from Jesus? In Acts 9, Saul’s life changes completely when he stops resisting Jesus and finally surrenders. The man who was persecuting Christians becomes a completely different person—and his story forces us to ask an uncomfortable question: Have I actually surrendered my life to Jesus, or am I still holding something back?In this message, Pastor Nick shares from Acts 9 and his own testimony about burnout, resisting God, letting go of the things that keep us trapped in our old lives, and what it means to truly follow Jesus with no turning back.Maybe for you it’s an addiction. Maybe it’s bitterness, pride, control, a relationship, your career, or simply trying to live with one foot in the church and one foot in the world.Whatever it is, you don’t have to keep resisting God.Today can be the day you surrender.📖 Scripture: Acts 9🎙️ Message: No Turning BackIf this message encouraged or challenged you, share it with someone who needs to hear it and subscribe for more biblical teaching each week.

Saul was one of the greatest enemies of the early church. He approved of Stephen’s death, dragged Christians from their homes, and traveled to Damascus intending to arrest even more followers of Jesus. But everything changed when Jesus met him on the road.In this message from Acts 9:1–19, Pastor Sam teaches through Saul’s unlikely conversion and the obedience of Ananias. Although Ananias had every reason to fear and resent Saul, he followed Jesus, placed his hands on him, and called him “Brother Saul.”This passage reminds us that no one is beyond the reach of God’s grace. Jesus meets people at their worst, transforms broken lives, and calls His followers to love, forgive, carry one another’s burdens, and pray for those who oppose them.No matter what you have done or how far from God you may feel, it is never too late to turn to Jesus.Scripture: Acts 9:1–19Speaker: Pastor SamJoin Fervent Church Sundays at 9:30 AM in Hutto, Texas.Learn more: fervent.church

Have you ever felt a nudge to do something... and talked yourself out of it? In this message from Acts 8, we look at Philip's encounter with an angel, a desert road nobody wanted to travel, and an Ethiopian official searching for God without even knowing it yet.We break down what it really means to have the Holy Spirit as our Advocate — not just with us, but in us and upon us — and why so many of us struggle to recognize His voice. You'll learn the difference between conviction and coincidence, how to test what you're hearing against Scripture, and why obedience almost always shows up outside your comfort zone.If you've ever wondered "was that God, or was that just me?" — this one's for you.📖 Scripture: Acts 8:26-40, John 14:15-27, Hebrews 13:1-2🙏 Need prayer or want to connect with us? In Acts 8:4–25, Philip brings the gospel to Samaria, where many people place their faith in Jesus—including Simon the sorcerer. But Simon’s response reveals a sobering truth: it is possible to be around the things of God, say the right words, and still have a heart that is not right before Him.This message challenges us to look beyond outward religion, spiritual experiences, and simply going through the motions. Are we pursuing Jesus Himself, or are we pursuing power, recognition, comfort, or what God can do for us?As we study Philip, Simon, Peter, and John, we will see the difference between a counterfeit faith and a genuine relationship with Christ. We’ll also be reminded to test every message against God’s Word, repent when our hearts drift, and abide in Jesus.Scripture: Acts 8:4–25If this message encouraged or challenged you, please like, subscribe, and share it with someone who needs a heart check.#Acts8 #ChristianSermon #Faith #Jesus #BibleStudy #GenuineFaith #HolySpirit

Persecution broke out against the early church, forcing believers to leave Jerusalem and scatter throughout Judea and Samaria. What appeared to be a devastating setback became the very thing God used to spread the gospel beyond the city.In this verse-by-verse teaching through Acts 8:1–8, Pastor Nick contrasts Saul’s religious pride with the faithfulness of Stephen and Philip. Saul believed he was serving God while actively resisting Him, while Philip remained surrendered to God and continued preaching Jesus wherever he went. This message reminds us that God does not waste our trials, hardships, or uncomfortable seasons. The difficult path may be the very place where God strengthens our faith, uses our story, and brings joy to others through the gospel.Scripture: Acts 8:1–8Fervent Church in Hutto, TexasLearn more or watch previous messages at fervent.church.

Stephen stood before the very council that condemned Jesus to death. Instead of defending himself, he boldly proclaimed the gospel. In this verse-by-verse study of Acts 7, we walk through Stephen’s powerful sermon—the longest recorded sermon in the book of Acts. By tracing the lives of Abraham, Joseph, Moses, and Israel’s history, Stephen reveals a sobering pattern: God continually calls His people to Himself, yet they continually resist Him.The same warning applies today. It’s possible to know the Bible, attend church faithfully, and still resist the work of the Holy Spirit. This message challenges us to examine our own hearts and ask: Where am I resisting what God is calling me to do?In this sermon you’ll discover:

Why Stephen chose to preach instead of defend himself.

How Abraham, Joseph, and Moses all point to Jesus.

Why God cannot be confined to a building or religious tradition.

The danger of loving religion more than Christ.

The difference between conviction and condemnation.

How to respond when the Holy Spirit is calling you to repentance.

Whether you’re new to Christianity or have followed Jesus for years, this passage is a powerful reminder that God desires surrendered hearts more than religious routines.Scripture: Acts 7:1-60 (ESV)If this message encouraged you, be sure to subscribe, leave a review, and share it with someone who needs hope.Join us each week as we teach through the Bible verse by verse at Fervent Church in Hutto, Texas.Learn more: fervent.church

What happens when the church grows so fast that needs go unmet? In Acts 6, the early church faces its first internal conflict — and the apostles' response reveals something powerful: God often solves problems by raising up faithful people from within. Pastor Nick walks through the appointment of the first seven deacons, the qualifications that matter most (good reputation, full of the Spirit, wisdom), and how one of those men — Stephen — becomes a model of courageous, Spirit-filled service. Whether God is calling you to something big or something small, this message is a reminder that there is no insignificant ministry in the Kingdom of God. You are chosen. You have a purpose.
