Episode 34 – How to make fun Blood Angels lists that are lore accurate and don’t suck.

On today’s episode we continue to explore the history of the Blood Angels on the tabletop. Starting in 8th edition with the advent of Stratagems and Command Points. Things that became quite critical for the Blood Angels’ Captains with thunder-hammers and jump packs. After the wildness that was 8th we move into 9th edition where they settle back into a mono faction again seeing a lot of success thanks to their new primaris models. After that came the great times of 10th edition where the dense terrain let them play like the melee smash army they want to play as. We then close out with our ideas for 11th edition and the army. What it needs and what we hope it gets.<a href="https://www.patreon.com/The40kLorecast" rel="nofollow">Patreon</a><a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/The40kLorecast" rel="nofollow">Merchandise</a><a href="https://Discord.gg/40klc" rel="nofollow">Discord Link:</a><a href="https://the40klorecast.com/" rel="nofollow">Our Website</a><a href="https://open.spotify.com/show/7dEDiuP31Ap81EHtWMS3LG?si=61e9be2fc4cc4cb7" rel="nofollow">Retro Recall</a><a href="https://www.youtube.com/@BradChester71" rel="nofollow">Brad Channel</a> Advertising Inquiries: <a href='https://redcircle.com/brands'>https://redcircle.com/brands</a> Privacy & Opt-Out: <a href='https://redcircle.com/privacy'>https://redcircle.com/privacy</a>

On today’s episode we explore the history of the Blood Angels on the tabletop. Starting with their original inception in 2nd edition (which is really the 1st edition). We then enjoy their 3rd edition double codex (where the second one had to be released to fix the errors of the first). But then move on to their greatest moments, the 4th edition white dwarf and the massively OP 5th edition codex. We then conclude on them falling to irrelevance in the 6th and 7th editions, due to just not being good enough allies (selfish Blood Angles).<a href="https://www.patreon.com/The40kLorecast" rel="nofollow">Patreon</a><a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/The40kLorecast" rel="nofollow">Merchandise</a><a href="https://Discord.gg/40klc" rel="nofollow">Discord Link:</a><a href="https://the40klorecast.com/" rel="nofollow">Our Website</a><a href="https://open.spotify.com/show/7dEDiuP31Ap81EHtWMS3LG?si=61e9be2fc4cc4cb7" rel="nofollow">Retro Recall</a><a href="https://www.youtube.com/@BradChester71" rel="nofollow">Brad Channel</a> Advertising Inquiries: <a href='https://redcircle.com/brands'>https://redcircle.com/brands</a> Privacy & Opt-Out: <a href='https://redcircle.com/privacy'>https://redcircle.com/privacy</a>

On today’s episode we talk more about chaos through the ages with a continuation into 8th, 9th, and 10th editions of the game. With the additions of the Death Guard, Thousand Sons, World Eaters, and now Emperor’s children to the game. Talking about the crazy Chaos soup of 8th edition, and the still crazy but less so combos of 9th. Then how they stacked up as solo factions as GW removed soup from the game.<a href="https://www.patreon.com/The40kLorecast" rel="nofollow">Patreon</a><a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/The40kLorecast" rel="nofollow">Merchandise</a><a href="https://Discord.gg/40klc" rel="nofollow">Discord Link:</a><a href="https://the40klorecast.com/" rel="nofollow">Our Website</a><a href="https://open.spotify.com/show/7dEDiuP31Ap81EHtWMS3LG?si=61e9be2fc4cc4cb7" rel="nofollow">Retro Recall</a><a href="https://www.youtube.com/@BradChester71" rel="nofollow">Brad Channel</a> Advertising Inquiries: <a href='https://redcircle.com/brands'>https://redcircle.com/brands</a> Privacy & Opt-Out: <a href='https://redcircle.com/privacy'>https://redcircle.com/privacy</a>

https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/pod-public-media-files/2026/4/28/15/11b0b182-4582-4fff-80f9-3faba4da42d3_e_22_-_is_corporate_40k_bad_for_the_game_final.mp3

On today’s episode we start by talking about Adepticon and then go way off the rails into something much more interesting. We jump into a real discussion about how the uniformity of 40k is making the game more dull. We discuss how much better the game is with unbalanced boards, weird weapons, and silly mechanics. And how it actually makes the game more tactical and more interesting, as opposed to a scripted thing it is turning into now. <a href="https://www.patreon.com/The40kLorecast" rel="nofollow">Patreon</a><a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/The40kLorecast" rel="nofollow">Merchandise</a><a href="https://Discord.gg/40klc" rel="nofollow">Discord Link:</a><a href="https://the40klorecast.com/" rel="nofollow">Our Website</a><a href="https://open.spotify.com/show/7dEDiuP31Ap81EHtWMS3LG?si=61e9be2fc4cc4cb7" rel="nofollow">Retro Recall</a><a href="https://www.youtube.com/@BradChester71" rel="nofollow">Brad Channel</a> Advertising Inquiries: <a href='https://redcircle.com/brands'>https://redcircle.com/brands</a> Privacy & Opt-Out: <a href='https://redcircle.com/privacy'>https://redcircle.com/privacy</a>

On today’s episode we decided to switch and talk about Adepticon. After all we had just been there and it was epic and fun. On this episode we go back to the original Adepticons starting in 2003 and going through the mid teens. Focusing on the tournament’s growth and expansion. And how they added to and expanded upon their format in that time. <a href="https://www.patreon.com/The40kLorecast" rel="nofollow">Patreon</a><a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/The40kLorecast" rel="nofollow">Merchandise</a><a href="https://Discord.gg/40klc" rel="nofollow">Discord Link:</a><a href="https://the40klorecast.com/" rel="nofollow">Our Website</a><a href="https://open.spotify.com/show/7dEDiuP31Ap81EHtWMS3LG?si=61e9be2fc4cc4cb7" rel="nofollow">Retro Recall</a><a href="https://www.youtube.com/@BradChester71" rel="nofollow">Brad Channel</a> Advertising Inquiries: <a href='https://redcircle.com/brands'>https://redcircle.com/brands</a> Privacy & Opt-Out: <a href='https://redcircle.com/privacy'>https://redcircle.com/privacy</a>

Episode 21 - The History Adepticon pt 1 - The beginnings of Adepticon

On today’s episode we pivot over to a new style and decide to talk about the Grey Knights over the ages. From their original appearance in rogue trader (as terminator models only) through 2nd edition expansion (of more terminator models). Then we cover one of the move influential codexes Daemonhunters in 3rd edition where they got their first expansion (along with GW trying out some new rules). Then we cover their first codex in 5th edition, which was busted AF. From there we dive into how the Grey Knights have evolved over the years. With some very good, and less good play styles (8th and 9th were very up and down). Along with how we think they should be adjusted to play more in line with their lore. <a href="https://www.patreon.com/The40kLorecast" rel="nofollow">Patreon</a><a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/The40kLorecast" rel="nofollow">Merchandise</a><a href="https://Discord.gg/40klc" rel="nofollow">Discord Link:</a><a href="https://the40klorecast.com/" rel="nofollow">Our Website</a><a href="https://open.spotify.com/show/7dEDiuP31Ap81EHtWMS3LG?si=61e9be2fc4cc4cb7" rel="nofollow">Retro Recall</a><a href="https://www.youtube.com/@BradChester71" rel="nofollow">Brad Channel</a> Advertising Inquiries: <a href='https://redcircle.com/brands'>https://redcircle.com/brands</a> Privacy & Opt-Out: <a href='https://redcircle.com/privacy'>https://redcircle.com/privacy</a>

On today’s episode close out our coverage of the editions of 40k with trip down the power creep that was 9th edition. Talking through the many busted codexes, and how they reshaped the meta. With an especial focus on the nightmare that was the tyranid codex release, and the joy that was the ork buggy release! As well as some fun hits on Drukhari, chaos, and some more. In retrospect we totally forgot about the harlequins, sorry! <a href="https://www.patreon.com/The40kLorecast" rel="nofollow">Patreon</a><a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/The40kLorecast" rel="nofollow">Merchandise</a><a href="https://Discord.gg/40klc" rel="nofollow">Discord Link:</a><a href="https://the40klorecast.com/" rel="nofollow">Our Website</a><a href="https://open.spotify.com/show/7dEDiuP31Ap81EHtWMS3LG?si=61e9be2fc4cc4cb7" rel="nofollow">Retro Recall</a><a href="https://www.youtube.com/@BradChester71" rel="nofollow">Brad Channel</a> Advertising Inquiries: <a href='https://redcircle.com/brands'>https://redcircle.com/brands</a> Privacy & Opt-Out: <a href='https://redcircle.com/privacy'>https://redcircle.com/privacy</a>

On today’s episode we begin our coverage of 9th edition 40k. With a trip down memory lane of June 2020 and the big going on (leading to all of us not having a lot going on). And how that affected the launch of the edition cough cough back orders cough cough. Then we spend time talking about the actual changes of the edition, how they functioned and the effect on the game state. <a href="https://www.patreon.com/The40kLorecast" rel="nofollow">Patreon</a><a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/The40kLorecast" rel="nofollow">Merchandise</a><a href="https://Discord.gg/40klc" rel="nofollow">Discord Link:</a><a href="https://the40klorecast.com/" rel="nofollow">Our Website</a><a href="https://open.spotify.com/show/7dEDiuP31Ap81EHtWMS3LG?si=61e9be2fc4cc4cb7" rel="nofollow">Retro Recall</a><a href="https://www.youtube.com/@BradChester71" rel="nofollow">Brad Channel</a> Advertising Inquiries: <a href='https://redcircle.com/brands'>https://redcircle.com/brands</a> Privacy & Opt-Out: <a href='https://redcircle.com/privacy'>https://redcircle.com/privacy</a>

Episode 18 - 9th edition: hope you like power creep and backorders..... or 3D printing

On today’s episode we close our coverage of 8th edition with a discussion of the most broken and problematic elements of the edition. Starting with the over abundance of and lack of limitations on command points. Followed by overlapping auras and overly broad key-words. And then we jump into more specific examples of things that just got tuned up a little too high, Ynnari, loyal 32, smash captains, castellan knights, etc. And then close out on the death of the edition with the iron hands detachment of doom. <a href="https://www.patreon.com/The40kLorecast" rel="nofollow">Patreon</a><a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/The40kLorecast" rel="nofollow">Merchandise</a><a href="https://Discord.gg/40klc" rel="nofollow">Discord Link:</a><a href="https://the40klorecast.com/" rel="nofollow">Our Website</a><a href="https://open.spotify.com/show/7dEDiuP31Ap81EHtWMS3LG?si=61e9be2fc4cc4cb7" rel="nofollow">Retro Recall</a><a href="https://www.youtube.com/@BradChester71" rel="nofollow">Brad Channel</a> Advertising Inquiries: <a href='https://redcircle.com/brands'>https://redcircle.com/brands</a> Privacy & Opt-Out: <a href='https://redcircle.com/privacy'>https://redcircle.com/privacy</a>

Episode 17 - 8th edition busted parts, command points, overlapping auras, overpowered units, and of course the Iron Hands

On today’s episode we continue our coverage of 8th edition with a review of the core rules. From the addition of movement to data sheets, the improved psychic phase, and wonky new line of sight (character targeting was odd). We also then jump into charge and fight phases, and close out on the completely reworked moral phase (really sucked to be horde). <a href="https://www.patreon.com/The40kLorecast" rel="nofollow">Patreon</a><a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/The40kLorecast" rel="nofollow">Merchandise</a><a href="https://Discord.gg/40klc" rel="nofollow">Discord Link:</a><a href="https://the40klorecast.com/" rel="nofollow">Our Website</a><a href="https://open.spotify.com/show/7dEDiuP31Ap81EHtWMS3LG?si=61e9be2fc4cc4cb7" rel="nofollow">Retro Recall</a><a href="https://www.youtube.com/@BradChester71" rel="nofollow">Brad Channel</a> Advertising Inquiries: <a href='https://redcircle.com/brands'>https://redcircle.com/brands</a> Privacy & Opt-Out: <a href='https://redcircle.com/privacy'>https://redcircle.com/privacy</a>
