  • Going Vegan

    Wednesdays 2:00pm - 3:00pm (EDT)

    WHAT WILL THE AUDIENCE LEARN?

We are bringing on two gents who will discuss their journeys including how they successfully "went vegan", how they handle cravings, what to substitute for what and the overall benefits of veganism. I'm personally looking forward to some recipe ideas! It's a conversation us animal lovers all need to have and although we are not vegans, we certainly do love those who are.

    EPISODE SUMMARY:

Are you trying to "go vegan"? Are you "vegan curious"? Perhaps you've seen a movie or documentary such as "The Game Changers" or "Forks Over Knives" that has got you thinking that you would like to eliminate meats, dairy and/or processed foods? Or maybe you participate in "Meatless Mondays".

Regardless of where you are on your journey, one thing is certain - the world is consuming more plants and less meat. Some people are vegan due to health benefits, others have committed to a plant based diet as a commitment to not hurting animals and for others, it's both.

  • Paws For A Cause

    WHAT WILL THE AUDIENCE LEARN?

How to recognize domestic violence, how to reach out for help, and the services that are available. Please add your headshot.

    EPISODE SUMMARY:

    About Jennifer Capezza:

Jennifer has a diverse background beginning in live theatre production and special events. Transitioning from this to receiving her Master's of Public Administration from LIU Post to enter into the Non-Profit field to focus on special events in the fundraising departments. Along the way she founded and built All CAPZ Consulting.

A social media marketing, management, and training firm dedicated to empowering you to take control of your digital footprint. At the beginning of 2022, she was appointed Associate Director of LIADV. In this role, she is able to work closely with esteemed Executive Director, Wendy Linsalata, and provide support to the amazing programming staff providing support for thousands of trauma survivors each year.

    About LIADV:

1 in 3 women in the US experiences some form of abuse. Of those instances, 60% of survivors state that they did not leave a violent situation because they would not leave their animal behind. This is because, in over 50% of cases, the animal is also the focus of the abuse. For over 15 years we worked with local shelters and foster organizations to ensure the safety of the family pet, however, our goal was to keep the entire family together. L.I. Against Domestic Violence provides a comprehensive, trauma-informed service plan, abest-practice, to survivors and their companion animals by providing for co-sheltering as opposed to the option of placing the animal in foster care which, interrupts the human/pet bond and exacerbates an already traumatic and stressful situation; therefore, increasing their safety and emotional well-being.

  • Heather's Heroes

Learn all about the history and the making of Heather's Heroes and how they're saving lives. Can your dog benefit from having one? How do you know if your dog may need behavior modification? Let's find out!

One of our favorite shows to watch in my household is The Profit with Marcus Lamonis. We are partial to entrepreneurship and so we watch that and Shark Tank...a lot! My favorite businesses are of course the ones that offer a pet product or service. So, when Heather's Heroes aired, I was especially locked in.

As always, necessity is the mother of invention. As a pet professional and avid dog lover, Heather Beck knew all too well what happens to dogs who may have a tendency to be nervous, scared, reactive, and/or have a prey drive. It often does not do well for the dog and Heather wanted to help mitigate this problem so she invented a solution.

We all know that animals provide us with emotional benefits like unconditional love, tons of hysterical moments, and heart-melting memories. In fact, right now as I type, my little cat Phoebe is purring in my lap and head-butting my forearm as if to say "stop working and scratch my forehead already!" It's simply impossible not to oblige her, but I digress...
