For over 15 years we worked with local shelters and foster organizations to ensure the safety of the family pet, however, our goal was to keep the entire family together. L.I. Against Domestic Violence provides a comprehensive, trauma-informed service plan, abest-practice, to survivors and their companion animals by providing for co-sheltering as opposed to the option of placing the animal in foster care which, interrupts the human/pet bond and exacerbates an already traumatic and stressful situation; therefore, increasing their safety and emotional well-being.
