Trout Moving In, Redfish Feeding & Flounder Getting Big

Season 1 | Episode 35
24m | Oct 8, 2026

Welcome to this week’s Louisiana Delta Fishing Report, covering New Orleans, Venice, Hopedale/Delacroix, Grand Isle, Houma, and everywhere in between. Host Andre’ Savoie talks with Capt. Rory Rorison of United Charters about the fall transition around Shell Beach, where shrimp are pouring out of the marsh and trout are beginning to move closer inside. Andre’ also catches up with Capt. Louis Rossignol of Venice Guide Service about redfish, big flounder, tripletail, and some unusual manta ray encounters around the Venice Delta.

Rory explains that cooler mornings are getting fish into a stronger feeding pattern, with trout showing up around Breton Sound, Black Bay, the MRGO, and interior waters. Live shrimp remain productive, but artificial shrimp have also been catching fish, while bull reds and sheepshead add to the mixed bag. He expects the inside trout bite to improve even more once spawning winds down and stronger cold fronts arrive.

In Venice, Capt. Louis says redfish are still being caught by finding clean, moving water near grass beds, while flounder have been especially impressive around river passes and current-swept areas. He also explains why September manta rays are worth watching closely, since big cobia can sometimes travel underneath them, and shares recent success with tripletail as fall fishing continues to develop across the Delta.
