Writing Your Teaching Philosophy
A teaching philosophy (also known as an educational philosophy, a teaching statement, a philosophy of education, a philosophy of teaching, etc.) is a self-reflective statement of your beliefs about teaching and learning. In addition to general comments, your teaching philosophy should discuss how you put your beliefs into practice by including concrete examples of what you do, or anticipate doing, in your classroom. Defining, explaining, and clarifying your educational philosophy will enhance your ability to align it with your teaching practice.
Listen to this episode to find out exactly what they are, what they should contain, what format they should be written in, and how to begin writing or updating your own teaching philosophy statement.
