Is Money Your Master? | Eternal Return on Investment | Pastor Brandon Woodard

40m | Oct 20, 2026

We spend our lives investing in things we hope will pay off. Our careers. Our retirement. Our relationships. Our homes. Our futures. We carefully consider where our time, money, and energy go because we want the best possible return. But what if we're so focused on building our own kingdom that we've forgotten to invest in the one that lasts forever? What if the greatest return on investment has nothing to do with how much we accumulate and everything to do with what we do with what God has given us?

In this message, Pastor Brandon Woodard begins our new series, Eternal Return on Investment, by exploring Jesus' teaching in Matthew 6:19–34. Jesus challenges us to stop storing up treasures that will eventually fade and start investing in what lasts for eternity. But this message isn't simply about money. It's about our hearts, our priorities, and the question we all have to answer: Who or what is really first in our lives?

Jesus makes it clear that we cannot serve two masters. Money itself isn't the enemy, but when wealth, possessions, and financial security become the source of our identity and devotion, they begin to compete with God for our hearts. Where our treasure goes, our hearts follow. And when we spend our lives building only our own kingdom, we risk missing the eternal impact God has called us to make.

The good news is that Jesus doesn't leave us with a warning. He gives us a promise. The same God who feeds the birds and clothes the flowers knows exactly what we need. We don't have to live consumed by worry about tomorrow. We can trust His provision, put His kingdom first, and use the resources He's entrusted to us to make a difference that lasts beyond our lifetime.

God doesn't want your money. He wants your heart. And when we seek His kingdom first, everything about how we live, give, and invest begins to change.

In This Message:

► Treasures That Last: Why Jesus calls us to invest in eternity rather than building our lives around temporary wealth and possessions.

► Two Masters: How money can quietly compete with God for our devotion and why our financial priorities reveal what we value most.

► Trust Over Worry: What Jesus teaches about God's provision and why seeking His kingdom first changes how we approach our finances and future.

► Investing in God's Kingdom: How intentional stewardship, generosity, and the Kingdom Investment Initiative can help us make an eternal difference in our communities and around the world.

The greatest return on investment isn't measured by what you keep. It's measured by what lasts for eternity.
