A Tale of Survival: The Unbreakable Bond of Danielle Keener and Dan Zapp
On January 8, 2000, college students Danielle Keener and Dan Zapp were abducted at gunpoint by a man while walking near a marina in York, Pennsylvania. The assailant drove them to an isolated location, where he assaulted and shot both of them before pushing them into the Susquehanna River.
Miraculously, they survived by playing dead in the water until rescued by a local duck hunter. The perpetrator, William Babner, was later arrested and convicted based on Dan's detailed recollection of the crime.
Dan and Danielle recovered from their injuries and went on to lead successful lives, with Dan pursuing a Ph.D. in psychology and Danielle becoming a clinical social worker.
